Daniel Blau is pleased to present two exceptional collections on the occasion of Paris Photo 2013:
Robert Capa (1913 – 1954)
Robert Capa, renowned war photographer and co-founder of Magnum Photos, died a violent death while covering the first Indochina War in 1954. Had he lived, he would have turned 100 on October 22, 2013. As a centennial celebration of Capa’s life and work we present a collection of rare vintage pictures documenting WWII in Europe from 1943-45, primarily in Sicily and France.
Misled / Verführt German Youth 1933 – 1945
An exhibition of photographs of German adolescents during Hitler’s regime. This collection of images depicts a misled generation – children raised as soldiers, eager to become heroes but ultimately used as cannon fodder. This group of dramatic photographs has been carefully assembled over five years and is available as a set.

We are thrilled to announce our exclusive collaboration with the estate of renowned photographer J. R. Eyerman (1906-1985). This November we will present two exhibitions, one in London and one in Paris, which take us back to the glamour and excitement of Hollywood and pay tribute to one of America’s celebrated 20th century photojournalists.
For Photo Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris we present “J. R. Eyerman Rediscovered, Part One: Kim Novak”: a series of 1950s photographs of Kim Novak as a young starlet. We will simultaneously show “Part Two: Beauties, Brutes and Other Characters” in our London gallery.
The photographs in these exhibitions come from the personal collection of Life Magazine photographer J. R. Eyerman. Most of these images have never been published and are now being revealed to the public for the first time.

In this exhibition, we are thrilled to present a selection of new works on paper by the inimitable Neal Fox, co-founder of London art collective Le Gun. Hierarchies are reversed in a show that embodies the spirit of the Ancient Roman festival Saturnalia: slaves became rulers, sitting at banquet tables, exempt from punishment on festival days. The carnivalesque atmosphere of the feast of fools, brimming with libations, gambling and debauchery, of liberation through absurdity and chaos, becomes formal and symbolic material for Fox’s psychedelic and transgressive drawings. Citing a range of influences from cartoonist Robert Crumb to painter Hieronymus Bosch to novelist William S. Burroughs, anachronisms become a signifying feature of the artist’s work.
Drawing upon motifs from the collective unconscious, and with a cast of pop culture figures ranging from Hunter S. Thompson to Ziggy Stardust, Fox employs his iconoclastic touch and unravels – with great humour – the grotesque in a world turned upside down.
Following the overwhelming success of our recent international museum exhibitions in Denmark and the Netherlands, we are pleased to present an exquisite selection of drawings, some of which have not been exhibited before. Continue reading “TWO ANDY WARHOL EXHIBITIONS IN MUNICH”

We are thrilled to announce that the Teylers Museum in the Netherlands will show over 50 early Andy Warhol (1928-1987) drawings in their Print Room this summer, following the success of our exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen.
These works are among the 300 or so newly discovered Warhol drawings that have continued to cause a stir in Europe and the U.S. since being uncovered by Daniel Blau in 2011.
Many of the drawings are studies of the human form, inspired by photographs or magazine illustrations. They provide invaluable insight into Warhol’s formative years and reveal his skill as a fabulous draughtsman.
The exhibition will move to the Graphische Sammlung in Munich later this year.
