All applicants must be aged 29 and under on the submission closing date of June 14th, 2021.
All submitted works must be the artist’s own. Only original works that have not previously been exhibited or published (*with the exception of university degree shows) are eligible for submission. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Applicants must post their work to the gallery to arrive by the closing date of June 14th, 2021. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Applicants must include a completed and signed portfolio submission form and a photocopy of their passport or other official ID with their date of birth clearly stated.
Winners will be asked to present their original ID to the gallery.
Please indicate on the application form whether you wish your submission to be returned.
All unsuccessful submissions will be returned to those that have supplied a stamped envelope with return address.
We reserve the right to dispose of unclaimed submissions after 1 September 2021.
The artist or a nominated person may collect unsuccessful submissions directly from the gallery by appointment only.
Works for the exhibition will be selected from each artist’s submitted works. The number of pieces exhibited by each artist may vary.
All submitted work should have full caption information. A list of submitted works must accompany each submission.
The photographs must be unframed and in protective sleeves. Only 2D works will be accepted. Maximum size of each print is 10 x 16 inches (25 x 40 cm).
Edition size for submitted and exhibited works cannot exceed nine (+2 AP). Submitted works must be signed with an edition number clearly marked on the back. By signing below you confirm that no more than nine prints +2 AP (of any size) of each photograph have been/will be produced for Sale.
We reserve the right to change the date/location of the exhibition or to postpone / cancel the competition at our discretion.
Winners will receive the opportunity to participate in a group exhibition. All exhibited works will be for sale on a consignment basis at a price determined by the artist and DANIEL BLAU. Either party can choose not to accept a price during the negotiations before the show date, but the gallery will have the final say. All prices shall include VAT. If a price cannot be agreed on then the artist shall not take part in the exhibition.
DANIEL BLAU reserves the right to purchase works outright.
We will keep the exhibited works on consignment for three months after the exhibition closes.
The gallery will allocate wall-space to winners. There will be no negotiation between the gallery and the artist regarding the choice of wall-space. The gallery will design the layout of the show.
Where applicable, the gallery will mount and frame the works to be exhibited. The choice of mount and frame is at the gallery’s discretion, but we shall endeavour to consult the artist whenever possible.
We cannot guarantee that exhibited works will be sold.
If you are among the 3 winners this document will become a contract in which we offer you an exhibition subject to your agreement with our terms and conditions.
Upon entering into the competition the photographer allows DANIEL BLAU to use the supplied photographs and images thereof for press, advertising and promotional purposes free of charge and at our discretion. The photographer will retain copyright for each image.
Submission of materials is at the artist’s own risk. DANIEL BLAU cannot accept liability for any loss or damage to works submitted or exhibited.
DANIEL BLAU respects the moral right of the artist to be identified as the creator of their artwork. The artist retains all rights pertaining to their artwork.
Unfortunately we cannot offer feedback to unsuccessful applicants, and no correspondence will be entered into.
