Following on the success of last year’s 3 Under 30 competition, which attracted numerous submissions from artists around the world, DANIEL BLAU is pleased to announce the return of this prestigious competition for young photographers.
This is a unique opportunity to gain recognition through an internationally renowned gallery.
Three photographers will be selected based on the strengths of a submitted portfolio and accompanying statement. The three winners will be exhibited in a group show organised and publicised by DANIEL BLAU. The exhibition will take place in Paris in November 2021 as part of the Photo-St-Germain festival.
The competition is open to submissions from May 1st – June 14th, 2021. Applicants will complete a short application followed by a postal submission of photographs.
All photographers aged 29 and under on the competition closing date of June 14th, 2021 are eligible to apply.
The winners will be announced on August 15th, 2021.

There are no restrictions on artist nationality/residency,
however photographers must be able to physically post their work to the gallery in order to apply.
We welcome submissions from applicants to our previous competitions.
However, winners of our previous competitions are not eligible to apply.
Entry Fee
There is no fee to apply.
How to apply
Eligible photographers who wish to enter the 3 Under 30 competition should complete the submission form and then post their application materials to the gallery.
We welcome submissions of (up to 10) photographs in a single photographic series/project. (step by step instructions below)
Collate and submit all of the following printed materials:
Your photographs – these should be accompanied by a list of photo titles, a project description (up to 300 words) and your bio (up to 300 words).
The photographs must be unframed and in protective sleeves. Only 2D works will be accepted. Maximum size of each print is 10 x 16 inches (25 x 40 cm).
Submissions must include a photocopy of your passport or other official ID with date of birth clearly visible. The inclusion of a CV is optional.
All items should be sent to: Daniel Blau, Maximilianstraße 26, 80539 München, Germany.
Applicants must ensure that both their portfolio submission form and art work is delivered to the gallery by June 14th, 2021 at the latest.
The winners will be announced on August 15th, 2021.
Submission Guidelines
Applicants must carefully read the terms and conditions.
Submissions which fail to comply with our guidelines will not be considered.
Should artists wish their photographs to be returned to them they will need to include adequate postage and an envelope labelled with their return address. *Please purchase your return postage here and include the shipping labels and a suitable envelope with your short submission.
Submitted work must not have been exhibited or published elsewhere, with the exception of university degree shows.
The edition size for submitted and exhibited works cannot exceed nine (+2 AP).
There is no fee to enter and no cash reward.
We can’t offer guidance as to the type of work to be submitted. We welcome colour, black and white, digital (printed) and analogue submissions.
We will consult with winning photographers regarding preparations for the exhibition.

Winners and Exhibition
The three winning photographers will be exhibitied in a group show in Paris in November 2021. Works for the exhibition will be selected by the gallery from those submitted. We reserve the right to change the date / location of the exhibition or to postpone / cancel the competition at our discretion.
The exhibition will run during the Photo-Saint-Germain 2021 festival.
